Windy Network

About The Windy Network

The Windy Network was established to support the work of those Yorkshire and Humber based practitioners engaged in the development of small and building integrated wind turbine installations. The Network began as a joint initiative between the Local Energy Support Programmes in York and Huddersfield, the Sunrise Project (now Microgeneration Yorkshire) and the Government Office for Yorkshire and Humber. Through a programme of half day workshops the Network provides practitioners with an opportunity to meet each other, share knowledge and best practice and listen to a range of presentations related to the implementation and advancement of wind turbine technologies.

The Network currently has over 100 members. Membership is free and open to individuals and organisations within Yorkshire and Humber with an academic or professional interest in wind power. Our membership base includes local authority officers, public sector housing professionals, property developers, architects, environmental consultants, postgraduate students, renewable energy specialists and also manufacturers and installers of wind turbines.

About the Windy Network Microsite

This micro site has been created to support the Windy Network programme in its core aims of enhancing the knowledge of the Yorkshire and Humber wind practitioner base and supporting the development of high quality small-scale wind energy installations across our region.

To achieve this the site provides Network members with access to a range of resources including:

  • A range of reports and briefing papers
  • Turbine catalogues and technical specifications
  • Economic analyses of wind power
  • Data on installed wind projects around the UK
  • Copies of presentations delivered at Network meetings
  • Useful links to external sources of information
